GNOME Blueslick
I just entered the GNOME 2.24 wallpaper competition, attached is my entry. I would appreciate critism, and suggestions. If you like it, use it, and share it!
Attached are more resolutions, and original SVGs. I built the SVGs using Inkscape 0.46

It's a very nice wallpaper. It would be super-nice if it was a semi-transparent SVG, so that users would be able to choose the colour of the wallpaper.
In terms of usability, having icons (such as the home icon) on a wallpaper is considered a bad idea, since users typically try to do things like click on these icons or pictures and expect some kind of function to be performed. This is also one of the reasons why the Ubuntu project doesn't put the Ubuntu logo on their wallpapers.
What Jon Carter says.
Also, it doesn't really grab me. But when I read through the quality guidelines, I see you've been rather constrained. Soft focus and no strong focal points is going to make for a rather bland collection of wallpaper.
What is the eye supposed to look at if there are no focal points? Madness.
